CRE 079X
Rel: 1990

You zap the sense right out of me
Swirl around in my head
I feel I'm drivin' on water
And the Beatles are dead
The beat's in my head
The beat's in my head

The sun beats down on the roadway
Glimmers heaven sent
Career between the mountains
A roadbustin lament
That's not what I meant
It's not what I meant

I wanna know what you're thinkin'
I wanna laze it up
I wanna know what you're thinkin'
Wanna laze it up

You suck the sense right out of me
Swirl around in my head
I feel I'm drivin' on water
And the Beatles are dead
The beat's in my head
The beat's in my head

I wanna know what you're thinkin'
I wanna laze it up
I wanna know what you're thinkin'
Wanna laze it up

  • No, Swervedriver is pretty much the same time as Nirvana. They began in 1989 and released Raise in 1991, Nirvana was founded in 1987 and released their first album Bleach in 1989. Furthermore, these guys were heavily influenced by American "alternative" rock of that era like (as you mentioned) Hüsker Dü, Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth. So, you can't really tag them as "pre-grunge" because Nevermind, Badmotorfinger, Ten were also released in 1991.

  • FYI Swervedriver is before Nirvana, and was around at the end of Huskurdu. So really, I'd put them ahead of their time alittle. They where pre-grunge... but I guess that was what punk and post punk is somewhat. Awesome..

  • great times, love this song......awsome guitars!!

  • great guitar work

  • Yeah , blaze it up to laze it up!

  • Amazing band, this takes me back to the heady 90s big time!

  • Thanks for posting. Love these three EPS before Raise.
