@LeoandTrina Of coarse it's changed. She grew up. She doesnt have to deal with all the pain and suffering that influenced her previous songs. That happens to everybody at some point..and she is still as sincere as ever in my opinion..now in her songs she is saying I know it sucks but you can get through it..and she is setting that example with her less pain filled songs.

@lilmissme716 I didn't say that there's NO emotion in it, I just said that there's been a change. It feels less tangible to me, slightly less sincere.

@SkyeDestiny2880 If you can seriously listen to 'Darlin' Or 'Everybody hurts' and tell me you seriously don't feel any emotion behind it then there's something wrong.

I love this type of music.. It wasn't full on rock, yet it wasn't pop either.. it was unique.
Avril Lavigne has just subscribed every relationship I've ever felt in under 4 minutes, she's the only artist that can do so.
'The Best Damn Thing' and 'Goodbye Lullaby' were such a let-down, what happened to this Avril?

@SkyeDestiny2880 i think it's because she finally isn't 'trapped' any more cuz she matured and got over that. and if it was depression that was causing this, then that's a good thing. everyone should b happy cuz right now im depressed it's such a curse but i gotta admit, these feelings create true beauty and the most amazing kind of art- i myself write poems and sometimes i read them over and i surprise myself like woah that's deep hahaa but i would def miss this if i got better

I do agree with the fact that Avril's songs have lost color and feeling... yeah, she might have grown up and found herself (which is a good thing), but that still means that her music will never be the same. All the great artists and poets make good art off of bad feelings such as anger, pain or lonelyness, and sadly, avril no longer has any of those. It makes me happy for her, but sad for her music. Her last album tries to be deep, but ends up having the same plasticity as "the best damn thing"
It's not even that Avril grew up, it's just that her songs have lost something. The emotion is so clear in this, you can feel it in the lyrics and the melody. You listen to it and you feel that feeling of suffocation - of being trapped, of being 'alone' yet not actually alone. It's so tangible here. Her new stuff is lacking heart, I think.

Dear Avril Lavigne , your last great album was Under My Skin. Please, bring back to life the emotions. P.S. I love you.
