... but hitting they expose vulnarability and so make beeing hit a real actual issue.

@lileichmann Actually, what you claim is true makes much sense, I just have/had the feeling, that they/thais yelled to make more direction of power, without beeing hurt on impact with the bag/pads/opponent at training. Maybe this is still true then?!
It is helpfull in directing/guiding energy, yelling in the same direction as whereto the hit/blow is beeing aimed at.
Expelling the air from body, makes body more stiff/stable/strong hitting, remember, they only yell at hitting, not beeing hit...!

@lileichmann I think it has relation to for example the tigers roaring when fighting, but where the tiger uses teeths as weapon, directing the energy thereto, the human uses the sound as aggressionprovokation, so not needing to become aggressive, as so is not good to use, but gives energy. He instead is indirectly beeing provoked by his wwrrrraaaarrrrrghhhhhh to produce adrenaline but still is keeping control by keeping observation of whereto the energy goes to. He keeps it down and direct it.

@lileichmann I respect that explanation. I will now take the role of the dumb one. So, why does thai's only do this in training and never at real fights? I mean if you are right, then it is even more important to do at fights than training, as training only trains preparation for real fighting.

@MrCarstennielsen The yell is a gutteral sound, energy deriving from the gut. Secondly whenever you strike you should always expell air from your body because you are leaving yourself open. If you get hit in the gut with alot of air in your lungs it will do way more damage. When you strike you want to be relaxed right before impact, releasing sound and air helps aid in the process. Everyone has different preference for sound, mine sounds like "ush".
-
@lileichmann What is your definition on how and why this "yell" aarrrghhh... is like it is? I think I know, something developed by perception, but what is your def?

Yes Apidet is a trainer at Fairtex - I think Fairtex Bangplee. Yodsanklai is now at Pattaya. You're not kidding, in terms of legendary kicks, it was Apidet; although I think his right kick was the main weapon as opposed to left. Changpuek also had hard ass kicks, but he was way larger than these guys. In terms of recent fighters - in all-around techniques - can't beat Saenchai Sor Kingstar. Samart Payakarun and DieselNoi are two other legends.
