@sjb167 Sounds like you're fantasizing that they're all a bunch of homosexuals.

OH OH OH .... I've got a good idea.. Let’s protect the wreck by leaving all the stuff down there so NO ONE can see it or make any money. Lets just all sit behind our desks and play concerned archaeologist. GO FOR IT ODYSSEY !!

I think its sad archaeologists cant drop thier pride and work with people like these to the sastifaction of both. Some of these sites are already disturbed by fish trolling operations but they dont even seem to know that. These people are careful and document everything.

All the distractions go away...like what, your wife and kids?
The scientific community doesn't have the money to spend searching for and recovering treasure/artifacts from sunken ships. If it wasn't for the "treasure hunters" that risk their own capital, we wouldn't see any of this at all. The majority of artifacts from sunken vessels you see in museums is all thanks to guys like them.

Theres nothing cool about what these clowns are doing. And archaeologists don't hunt for treasure, they utilize artifacts to reconstruct past lifeways. In nautical archaeology, gold is usually of little interest compared to what can be gleaned from the other artifacts
