This scene perfectly highlights how people who 'serve' the rich, powerful and successful are full of fear and feel intimidated. However, the rich, powerful and successful could a bunch of complete morons who are really stupid and rely on their status and it is due to this character's status that makes his comments deadly serious and not laughable to the woman. We can see he is stupid, she is so intimidated she can't.
Its these small aspects Guest notices and includes in his films.

All these movies are improvised comedies, which means that the actors are just given a gist of the scenes and almost all of the lines are ad-lib. The actors don't rehearse any of the scenes and they wrap up the scenes in very few takes. This is what makes his movies so great because all the dialogue is spontaneous and the actors make up their own lines as they go along.
