Global Consumer Culture-International Food Trade

Our documentary focuses on international food trade and how it has brought individuals, businesses, and nations together like never before. While conducting our research, we realized the incredible scope that the changes in food trade have caused and the impact that these transformations have had on the quality of life for billions of people across the globe. One of our goals in assimilating our documentary was to reveal the effects that globalization and international food trade are having upon Auburn students, and we chose four students with clear and informed opinions regarding these issues as our interview subjects. We also called upon the expertise of a professor in the College of Agriculture, whose specialty is global food trade, to provide fascinating and informative insights into the food trade system. In addition, we hope to illustrate the variety of food products in the United States thanks to importation, and to reveal to our audience the potential that many lesser-known countries have in terms of contributing to the complex and bountiful network of food trade. To do this, we have chosen to include footage of imported food items, statistics, food products lists, and photographs illustrating global food trade on both commercial and personal levels. Although we did not quote Thomas Friedman directly, we related his beliefs to a concept presented by another source. Overall, we feel that the presentation of our collected information is enlightening and concise, demonstrating the amazing possibilities that international food trade has on those who participate in the intricate system.
