This is a list of the 10 greatest bands and musical artists of all time. This list was based on fan base mostly because that's really what matters if you have a ton of fans and keep them over the years like all these bands have your obviously great.
It seems so wore out to have the beatles number 1, but all in all they have stood the test of time and still have millions of fans.
Creedence Clearwater Revival deserves to be in this, so don't get to crazy over it, they have had just as many hits if not more than anyone on this list, you probably love a bunch of their songs but just didn't know it was by them.
Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd are not the greatest bands of all time so get over it people who think it, obviously they have done some great stuff because they have so many fans but outside of both of their biggest hits, zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven and Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall Pt. II, there is not many people who could tell you another song by either, but nonetheless still great bands and are on the list.
Nirvana deserves to be on here, so people who can't get over the fact that a band from the 90's is great and that kurt killed himself, well get over it. Nirvana is without a doubt the most influential band of all time and meant more to its generation than any other band. Never has a song had the impact that Smells Like Teen Spirit had on the world and the music industry as it did, and never will. There's no doubt it my mind if Kurt's life hadn't ended they would have been known as the greatest band of all time but he didn't care about that and what happened, happened.
Bob Dylan is a great musician but no he doesn't need to be any higher, he's had more songs and albums than most of the people on this list and anyone for that matter, and still known mostly for Like a Rolling Stone and Knockin' on Heaven's Door, when bands like The Who and Nirvana have had less albums and songs but still have more songs that people know and remember.
All in all i think this is the best you can get to creating a list that everyone can i agree on although i know alot of people won't but hey, that's life. This list is also entitled to change because who is to not say 20 years from now noone will know who elvis is and people will faintly remember the Beatles but Nirvana will be known as the greatest band to ever live along with other newer bands like Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the Foo Fighters.
Angry or not i want to hear your guys' opinions, feel free to say whatever you want, thats what this is for, so that people who love music can come and discuss what it is they love and have a passion for. thanks! and enjoy!

The List:
the ones that just missed it: the doors, the beach boys, stevie wonder, david bowie, johnny cash, AC/DC, Eric Clapton.

  • Sorry folks...The Beatles will always be the biggest and most influential band of all time. When they came to the US on Feb.7,1964 the world had never seen anything like them. The look...the hair...the clothes...the humor...and most of all...the music. Without The Beatles...there would be no Stones.. electric Bob Dylan.....no Led Zep...no DC5...no Elton John...no Who...no Kinks..no Monkees...no Oasis...no nothing without The Beatles. They took over the world without firing a shot.

  • Pink floyd should be top 5

  • WHERE THE FUCK IS TOOL

  • My top 4 as an 11 year old boy:

    1:Nirvana

    2:Metallica

    3:Red Hot Chili Peppers

    4:The Beatles

-My Generation with Pop music with electric beats is a piece of shit, ROCK FOREVER

  • led zeppelin should be #3

  • @beatlejim64

    you cant prove that

  • @Kamyu03 Most bands find a sound that they like and then do nothing else but that one particular sound. The Beatles kept searching for new sounds throughout their career. I realize that LZ and Queen are more eclectic than the Beatles but they aren't like the Beatles where they actually search for new sounds. They just draw from available resources. I thought that the Beatles had a richer sound than the Who but I've only heard Tommy, My Generation, and their greatest hits so I could be wrong.

  • @75xaya At their time maybe. But they don't have a richer sound than the Who, Who rivals Zeppelin, the only eclectic album of the Beatles was the White Album (double). They had a richer sound than monochromatics bands like The Beach Boys, but they are closer to The Rolling Stones than to Zepp or Who. Their first 5 albums were pretty much the same thing, and they repeated themselves more than those other bands. Indeed they had some richness, but nothing that'd be compared with Queen i.e.

  • @Kamyu03 The Beatles do have a rich sound. Not as rich as people say they do but they have done pop, oldies pop, psychedelic, blues and rock. They've incorperated sitars, full orchestras, and lots of uncommon electrical effects. Their sound is definitely much richer than the Who's. Most rock lyrics are much worse than LZ's. Lots of LZ songs actually have very good lyrics. The rip-off factor is irrelevant. And do you really need to be so sanctimonious and bigoted. You don't sound cultured.

  • @75xaya I'm sorry that the truth has to hurt so much, americanbuthurtt. I mean your comment on Led Zeppelin proves how little you know, the fact that you'd put the Beatles as if they had a really rich sound(when Zepp and Who easily beat'em on that matter). And their lyrics my goodnes, that's their lowest since much of their songs where rip offs. Grab some book, listen to some classical and jazz, make yourself a favor kid. I mean america's musical education is really poor.

  • Led Zeppelin should be higher

In terms of musicianship, they are collectively the greatest band of all time

    They are highly innovative

Almost every song of theirs stands out

Their lyrics have a very unique feel to them and are much better than most of what you head in rock music

They incorporated many different genres and instruments just as much, if not more so, than the Beatles did

  • @jgg87 The founders of punk are the Stooges.
