Why God Wants You Rich

Jesus was born in a manger to parents who were extremely poor. He grew up in a poor city with a meager trade for the first 30 years of his life and then was homeless the next three. You wanta lotsa money you must figure out how to pass a camel thru an eye of needle and this will be easier than a rich man to be saved.... at least that is what Jesus said about rich men.

Also, excellent job taking Galatians 3:13 out of context and out of proper exegesis. Jesus was NOT hung on a tree for us to have riches, comfort or health!! You just took away from the GOSPEL. Your not even teaching the basic pillars of our faith. The Gospel is not riches or prosperity. The promise of Abraham has nothing to do with prosperity. If you looked at the NT as a whole you would find that the promise of Abraham falling on the gentiles was SALVATION... from the wrath of God, not poverty.

Jesus said store your treasures in heaven... not on earth Matthew 6:20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

I dare this preacher to preach at the poorest country in the world.

that verse he used for his first major contention is misinterpreted. yes it does say that god gives the power to get wealth...but it goes on to say that he did so in order to establish his new covenant that he promised to the fathers. meaning that he supplied riches in order to make the new covenant (i.e., the coming of his son Jesus Christ) possible. a covenant that has already been made true thus making this contention already fulfilled, therefore making it obsolete and non applicable to us

@MarquezGreg I agree with you up until you quoted Deut. 28.. because that is wildly out of context. That is talking about the curse of disobedience. Also, it was for those Israelites he was speaking too. But it has nothing to do with curse of the law. Gal. 3 says those under the works of law are under the curse. If you try to justify yourself by working righteousness according to the law, your cursed, not right with God... that is all of us before the Jesus began a work in us.

@kreezy22 Well… What the Bible actually says is: Gal. 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: :14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law…" The curse of the law is found at Deut. 28:15-68 there you will find what Christ redeemed us from.

Riches, poverty, marriage, singleness, children, relationships, health... all these things are gifts to show that Christ is divine. NONE of them are promised or deserved but all are ONLY for God to use to show the divinity and glory of Jesus in OUR LIVES through us.

"Material things shouldn't be too important too us (Sarcasm implied)"... so are you saying material things should be important too us? Not Biblical whatsoever. Be satisfied with my poverty? Nah, I'm satisfied with Jesus, because he is my portion forever. Are you saying we should be satisfied with our riches? We should be satisfied with neither.
Jesus was homeless, had no money, gave ALL he had away to the poor and encouraged others to do the same. Now what would you say to that Mr. Prosperity?

@42mada Well it's kind of hard to give to the poor when you don't have anything;-)There is no support in the Bible for what you are saying. I understand it's the traditional view but it's not Biblical.

@goyomarquez It is in fact Biblical. I have a couple verses for you : Read Mark 12:44, Mark 10:21. And the Bible does not call on the poor to give away what they don't have, they call on the rich to give all they have to the poor. Jesus explicitly calls on those who have money to give it away freely and to refrain from seeking it. My view is strictly, unequivocally biblical. Please don't ignore the Bible... it's not good for you.

@42mada The issue is: Was Jesus poor? Could you please post those scriptures you cite and identify where in them it says anything about Jesus being poor, because I'm not seeing it.

@goyomarquez No sir, the issue of how much money Jesus was in possession of is clearly not an issue which is relevant to how we view him or Christianity as a whole. If you believe Jesus was rich (of which there is no indication), then you must accept that he was a hypocrite - and I site my Mark 10:21 specifically as a textual reference for this claim. Your theology is dangerously misguided, and for your own sake I hope you will be able to see that.

@42mada Okay, let me make sure I understand what you're saying. Your point is that Jesus never had any money? Is that your point?
