John may have looked like a model but he can play that bass so props to Duran Duran! hehehe

Again Perfectly executed. Id forgotten how cool this bass line really is. You find some of the best bass lines in Pop Music because back then Hard Rock and Metal were Guitar fueled, burying the bass line along with the Rhythm Guitar.

Nice, I've watched 2 of your other vids and this by far is the best one. Not to say the others weren't good.

Dude, you NEVER disappoint. You are a very VERY good musician!

A challenge, try with slap
I Can, and you?

John Taylor is one of the most underrated bass players for my money - this and bass lines such as that in Save a Prayer are just great.
-
I've seen the comments about trying a wider, padded strap.
I recommend you trying a Ken Smith, they are the real deal. Specially if you play for long hours.

I think Duran Duran's first two albums contained some of the best bass lines ever. John Taylor is such an underrated bass guitarist.

Beautiful Zon...wish I could afford one. Love the tone on those! Great cover too

you're off the chain, john taylar would be pride. you totally rock the house dude.

haha, loving all the comments below, especially '..it seems he gets passed up for loads of recognition simply because he was good looking'.. so right, John's got amazing bass lines.

John Tayler hangs his bass up reasonably high, seeing you play I notice why he does so, doing all those little licks and breaks puts some serious strain on your left hand.
Regarding your comments about your Fender five string Marcus Miller, ever tried a wider strap? they destribute the weight of your bass more evenly.

I have been asked about about strain and injury. I used to have some problems with it in college but only because I was playing eight hours a day. My wrists are perfectly fine.
I am going to experiment with different straps (padded), strap height, and even playing a little more vertically if I have to.
I appreciate your concern and tips. Take care

Great work reproducing a great bass line. Watch your body mechanics, especially with your right wrist to avoid overuse/injury. Kudos!

I appreciate that! I used to have slight problems with my wrist but was also playing eight hours a day at the time. I don't play as much anymore and have worked on my RH a bit as well.
My biggest problem right now is from my Marcus Miller V. The massive neck dive leaves me with a sore shoulder. Most people say the only solution is to get a new bass. However, my friend has an idea about sticking a tungsten fishing weight in the cavity. We'll see what happens!
