@Rhomios Selectivity of sources: it seems to me that you select as sources of information those that reinforce your prejudices. I cast my net wider. Try to do the same it will give you a better grounding from which to conduct discussions and make you sound less prejudiced. :-) Naivety is not my problem but as I said, you seem to support goals for Kurds that most have already but can not see that Turkish Cypriots were denied the benefits that matter since they were disenfranchised

@Rhomios I suppose I have to keep saying this but Kurds have rights to participate fully in Turkish political and cultural life. I know eastern Turkey well. I have met ex PKK, PKK sympathisers and I can tell you that the majority of Kurds do not want a country run by the PKK and see a modern Turkey as their best opportunity for the future. Since you mention the earthquake- they are supported by the entire country and beyond, stupid remarks of a few Turks Armenians and others notwithstanding
-
@Rhomios Continuity is a strange beast. Did you ever play a game when you were a child called "Chinese whispers"? That is the kind of continuity you are actually talking about.
-
@Rhomios Well you are at least looking in books. But you are still selective. Every Greek expansion was accompanied by ethnic cleansing of Muslims. Balkan countries attacked the Ottoman Empire in 1912 with absolutely no provocation at all. It was a land grab. The nature of this land grab can be summarised by the ethnic cleansing of Salonika and the destruction of every Ottoman cultural building and monument- please note this before you start to talk about Smyrna in case you thought you might.

@Rhomios These are terrible things to say. You will get no argument from me to this. Are you suggesting that no Greek ever expressed ideas like this? Nicos Samson is a good man to start with if you want to check.... Most Kurds are integrated into Turkish life. PKK and its Marxist Revolutionary bullshit will not give Kurds what they want...and if you are wondering Kurds want jobs, income and security none of which will come to them via the PKK.Also be a little selective about your sources of info

@Rhomios Turkey had the right to invade. An important admission. They invaded. They stopped and waited for the Greek side to negotiate. Nothing happened so they advanced some more. No one wanted to talk. It should have been obvious that the longer this went on the less likely it would be for a solution to be found. The last time this was put to the people Greeks voted against negotiation, Turks voted for. Why? I don't know. Now Cyprus in the EU there is no incentive especially now!
-
@Rhomios OK. How many MPs in the TGNA are Kurds? Do you think that all MPs from the east of Turkey are Turks from Istanbul or Sivas parachuted in into Van or Diyarbakir so that the country bumpkins will vote them in? Separatism is the issue not culture. PKK are nothing, and Kurdish rights would be far more advanced by now, if it had not been for foreign support for terrorism in Turkey. Greece, two faced and deceitful supported that terrorism. Hopefully things are different now.

@Rhomios Makarios 1960: "The independence agreements do not form the goal they are the present and not the future. The Greek Cypriot people will continue their national cause and shape their future in accordance with THEIR will." Clearly then he was not negotiating in good faith. And1962:"Until this Turkish community forming part of the Turkish race that has been the terrible enemy of Hellenism is expelled, the duty of the heroes of EOKA can never be considered terminated." Tried everything?

@Rhomios Symbols of continuity or simply an aspiration masquerading as a myth. This is what you aspire to not what you are. Aspiration is good. When you use the myth to look down your noses at others this bad. Especially when you do it from a platform supported by other people's money and foreign armies which is what you have done for over 175 years. You are about to realise the difference when the reality dawns that you are just a satrapy of Brussels and all this bluster is just wind.
-
@Rhomios Don't give me this self serving delusional crap about differences. You select your "differences" carefully to suit your particular fantasy. Greeks and Turks are no different in their capacity for barbarity or humanity. Hypocrisy however is a different matter. You are good at that. Clearly superior in fact.
why always greeks and armenians come here and make bad comments about istanbul and what for ;? besides there is nothing offensive for them in this video...mentally handicaaped people..i am sure these people do not represent every greek or armenian ... welcome to turkey !
