In this dialogue series, Brother Wayne Teasdale and Ken Wilber discuss the advent of an integral mysticism in the postmodern world. Reflecting on their own spiritual experiences, the relation of science to spirituality, the lives of the great inter-spiritual pioneers, and how youth culture is revitalizing the mystical traditions, Brother Wayne and Ken show how an integral perspective can bring the revelations of mysticism into everyday life. In so doing, we learn to give fullest expression—as parents and professionals, students and seekers—to the Mystic Heart in each of us.

If, as historian Arnold Toynbee put it, the introduction of Buddhism into the West "may well prove to be the most important event of the 20th century," we might also argue that the re-discovery of the contemplative roots of Christianity will be equally important. And as we enter the 21st century, it stands to reason that the recognition of a common mystical ground between Buddhism, Christianity, and the other World Religions will be the most important event of all.

  • Pick one Spiritual path you feel love towards and be devoted to it. Ken sums up our knowledge of psychology; nobody know why anybody does anything. Peace and contentment to all beings.

  • The path will come with a bit of patience, selective reading, a critical eye and prayer - that's my experience anyway.

  • damn Ken is bloody genius!

  • @leanintolife fear of death, when received such that one, in every non-physical sense, does actually die, passing through the boundary of this fear, so that the boundary dissolves. . .

  • unborn, undying. . . yes.

  • Don't think about yourself, be yourself.

  • When it comes to spirituality there aren't any questions to ask. You don;t need more information. You just need to be aware of the internal nature of yourself, then you will stop asking questions and start being.

  • I think pain is one the most important, maybee only, factor for surrendering. That is surtainly how it happened for me. You've destroyed youself, now be kind to yourself. Stay in bed, get lazy. Difficult part; facing emotions and fear. Do therapy(for a while, not too long!!), resolve mum and dad issues, find a guru and off you go to Never Never Land:)

  • Hmmm when i had psychosis for 4 months the reality i was in was truly spiritual. I was jesus and the feeling was out of this world. I could do amazing things such as change the weather and read peoples minds, but be aware because when they finally hospitalised me and drugged me up that reality became hell and its not a nice place. I had to fight the devil which was another patient on the ward. I beat him spiritually. jesus is a level of conciousnes attained by letting go of all earthbound object
