I am proud to say this appears to be the first Grand Union commercial to be posted to You Tube. I don't see any more on here. If anyone has some up, I'd love to see them!
I found this on a tape someone gave me in the mid 90s. It is from 1986-1988. Amazingly, this chain still exists in some form, after going out of business and then being resurrected on paper. From WTEN, Albany, New York. Stating they beat the prices of their competition, Price Chopper.
I am 28 and still remeber where our GrandUnion used to stand now it is a dinner/thearter/Laser tag place lol. I go buy their all the time because the only Wendys sits right by it lol

Was that in "the dock" shopping center? I was there once about 20 years ago and seem to remember a grand union being there.

I am 25 now and I remember the Brunswick New York location when i was a kid that closed in 1996 when a brand new Price Chopper was built a half mile away. Brings back memories. after it closed it surved as a location for a salvation army thrift store and now it is currently empty. It would be a very nice location for something else, but nothing has been in there for abotu 4-5 years.

We had one Grand Union in our area and it was about 15-20 miles away in Stratford, CT lol. I definitely remember going in here as a lil' girl then it closed down and became a part of Burlington Coat Factory.

Grand Union was a huge washrag that passed from owner to owner until no dirty water could be squeezed from it...and then it was cut up and sold off...and the people who had spent their lives working there were kicked out like homeless bums...ask Don Valencourt how much money he stole...he was the Madoff of his day

I shopped at Grand Union in the 80's. That place smelled so good. I couldn't describe the smell is was like a great grocery store smell. The bigger stores don't have that smell anymore.
