After I posted this effect:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Akfai50yfMt
someone brought to my attention that Jack Parker would have really enjoyed it. I retooled it and love this version; hope Jack would have too.

  • Why do none of these people understand the B/K card thing? That's on purpose people! Great trick man.

    Mark

  • I saw Brett perform this in front of some of the best magicians in the world and it went down a treat. the presentation is fantastic and having only 4 cards at the end is a great kicker ending, i said it in gloucester and ill say it here ...10/10.

lecture notes are awesome by the way brett, well worth the flake and the crisps :-)

  • Why didn't I think about that? For that matter, why didn't I have each of the cards turn into different cards? One King, one Ace and one Unicorn?

I perform this in the real world, and while there are magicians out there who think that disguising 8 cards as 4 is completely logical, I prefer to perform stuff that fools people. Changing the card into a King would require an extra card. It was not a concession I was willing to make.

    Just saying...

  • Why not change the patter to find a [K]ing instead of a [B]lack card????

    just saying..

  • Ok, let's try this again. The B/K is drawn ambiguously for a reason...so that it can be a B or a K. The whole point is that it can be either. There is no mistake in the presentation or the trick, and I believe I would know, as I came up with it.

There is still a part of me that is waiting for Candid Camera to jump out.

  • No. Dude you say the card is a B. But at the end you say JACK, either your presentation was wrong in calling it a B because it sounds like you hesitated for a moment.

Im not dissing the trick in anyway. I enjoy your video's they're excellent.

"One of those J's changes to a B for black" your words. Then at the end you proceed to spell Jack with this B card.

  • You understand that is the point right? I find it hard to believe that anyone could be this intentionally obtuse.

  • No, when you put down the first card you introduce it as a B or Black card. Although it does look like a K the lines are too curved and can be mistaken for a B, just you didnt finish the line at the top or the bottom.

  • I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that either you're joking or English is your second language.

  • Nice effect. But it says Jacb not Jack :x
