@MusicTerry I also know these things because im a huge Fan of Dire Straits.And i dont forget the times in the late 70,s When Mark was told by huge English record companys ,that they had no time for another rock,n roll,blues band.So he answered that thank God,and i still Play his songs in pubs Today.He was brought up in London im sure,at tyhe age of nine,but he can turn on a Scottish accent in a heartbeat.I have a CD on the Sultans Check it out on the You tube.

yes his Mother was Scottish,Father was from im not sure but i think its norway or some place near there.Her was 9 years old when they moved to London.
