Dmitrij Smirnov (12): Apogee World Scholar, Saint Petersburg

Apogee World Scholar and Rising Star Award laureate Dmitrij Smirnov is shown in a live performance at the 2006 Crescendo Music Festival in St. Petersburg, which was co-sponsored by the Foundation, at the age of twelve. As a result of this performance, Smirnov was selected to receive an Apogee Merit Scholarship to support his continued training and development. He was subsequently named an Apogee World Scholar. Within four months of Apogee identifying and assisting Smirnov, he was awarded the grand prizes at the most prestigious competitions for young violinists in both Russia and Europe, and recognized as the world's top young violinist.
