Amtrak train #98 the northbound Silver Meteor arrives in to Palatka, FL on 11/23/11 at 4:05 PM, 41 minutes late with P42's 89 (with an AMAZING K5LA) & 93. Palatka's station area has recently undergone some impressive improvements. The station was pressure washed and painted, adding an eye popping glare to it, and the abandoned spur track that used to run west to Starke was finally removed. After the rails were removed, the crossing was resurfaced with concrete inserts, and the crossing masts were totally removed and replaced with new features such as LED lights.

  • Jakob,

Nice capture! What a great K5LA, and nice to hear the engineer feathering the horn to modulate the sound. It probably really annoyed the drivers that he didn't clear the island circuit to release the gates! That's always a problem when a station is located near a grade crossing. Nice job.
