There was a request for a video of my perfect pitch. This isn't much, so I'll probably make a better one soon to replace this, but I thought I might as well upload.

Sorry, my sister isn't a very good tester at times...(D minor to D major, for example). And the camera angle's weird (you can't see my head), plus the sound is a little funny with background noises and it made our voices sound really annoying, and sometimes when I said B it sounded like I said D...

Well, those are all the reasons this video sucks. It's good because I think it's kind of funny.

For those of you that don't know, I developed perfect pitch. I did not get it as a child, and I have spent the last three years trying many different methods and finally, succeeding. I recently passed the official test run by UCSF. Want to try it?

http://perfectpitch.ucsf.edu/survey/page1.php

First you have to fill out a survey, then they give you the test. I wouldn't try it if you're tired or anything, it would probably give you a headache. It was pretty rigorous, even for me.

If you're interested in learning, click on my channel page and PM me. I really enjoy talking about perfect pitch and helping others develop it.

  • I took have taken Burge's course and it really clears the mystery on perfect pitch. One realizes we all have the ability, although some are gifted and learn it quicker. I took his course thinking it was a scam, and was blown away when I developed perfect pitch in only 4 days.

  • @BrittAndrewBurns Cool man, and I just grew 3 feet in the last 4 days!

  • having perfect pitch means nothing its just a musical inherited gene i dont have perfect pitch but i can tell what the keys are i have tonal memory i can remeber the pitch of c and g and i can name any note on the keyboard and i am spiritual gifted which means God has put the anointing in me to play not play for entertainment and fun

  • @godschild1991ful This video is meant to prove that perfect pitch is NOT genetic. I learned it about a year ago, and I never had any kind of perfect pitch before then.

  • @AlexClouseComposer Don't worry about it. It's okay. We all make mistakes.

Just one thing: Why didn't you name the black keys with both of the enharmonic equivalents? I always do when people test me.

  • @alika207 I don't see any reason to. Saying G# already proves that I know which note I heard. And usually I don't feel and Ab, I feel a G#. It depends on the context, but for example, if I just heard and E, then she plays G#/Ab, I think G#. But I wouldn't usually leap from an Eb to a G#.

  • @Thehwchampionotw If you have relative pitch down perfectly you can play absolutely anything instantly after hearing.Maybe not on the same key but still....music is the relationship between pitches not pitches by themselves...Plus whoever tells you he learned PP he is probably lying. At best he memorized some pitches and uses relative pitch to find out the rest..

  • Hello Alex, what is the best method to develop perfect pitch? And wich of those did you use? Thank you

  • so I have perfect pitch and I'm impressed with your ability. I understand how you learned it exclusively by taking Burge's course, and I think there is truth in that perfect pitch can be taught. However, I think that you were born with the genetic PREDISPOSITION to acquire and learn perfect pitch easily. The chances of having perfect pitch are about 1 in 10,000. My sister and I BOTH have it, from as far as I can remember, starting with only elementary-school-level music experience. Coincidence?

  • That's impressive! I don't have perfect pitch, but I did recognise most of the notes the girl played. The most difficult thing for a non-perfect pitch person is to jump from one part of the piano to another...then I usually think a little when it comes to the note played

  • @AlexClouseComposer

    Hi!

Im also interested in learning perfect pitch. For now I Recognise some pitches but some not. I have half perfect pitch :P Can you also sing those notes? Which course was for you the most effective? What about Burge's super course? Would you recomend it?

Thank you for the answer :)

  • @evrekoa

No. Ive had it for a few months. Ive had it since i started Burge's course. Now Im able to recognize key of songs, chords, single pitches on every instrument and its really easy. I had never expected it to be that easy before i started Burges course.

  • @evrekoa

No, No. Its not like I memorize these pitches. Its just like I can sing them straigh away without any reference.

  • How could you be ugly when you have such a cute sister ? ...Yes, I'm aware this comment is pointless, I shall post a better one once I have acquired perfect pitch myself.

  • your sister is HOT!!!
