It was the English government, not the people, who oppressed Ireland. For you to hold such a grudge is ignorant. Arguably, the English people suffered far more at the hands of their own government, than the Irish did.
That aside, the music of the four nations has always been very similar, and always shared between each other. A lot of your Irish songs have English origins.

@Irishfianna While I don't believe this is an English song, you cannot deny that there are a lot of songs out there that people consider to be Irish, but have English origins. Pre-20th Century, music was traded openly and commonly in the British Isles, and it all sounded very similar.
