In regard to the NCAA college football rules there is one thing in my opinion that should be eliminated from the field of play and that is the term many use as "bobbling" the ball or not having control of the ball when a catch is made. To me any player / receiver that catches a ball and prevents it from falling onto the ground should be rewarded as having made a catch and having possession of the ball. To me you either make a catch or you don't there should not be any middle ground. Officials have used and misused this for many years and far to many games have ended in controversy because of this nonsense. Just Sayin'

I can't change what has already happened but if we all work together we can all get the NCAA to make some changes so there won't be anymore wrong calls made. With all the technology we have today there is no reason any call should be a wrong one. Untold billions of dollars are spent on college football every year and it's past time we insist on a more thorough review system than what we presently have. If officials cant get it right on the field we should demand they get it right during a review. If this will require more equipment so be it. Just Git-R-Done!

The truth shall make you free!

NCAA Rules 2011-12 ARTICLE 3. a. To catch a ball means that a player:
1. Gains possession (Rule 2-4-1) of a live ball in flight; or
2. Leaves his feet and firmly grasps a live ball in flight, the ball first
touching the ground inbounds while still in his firm grasp; or
3. Leaves his feet, firmly grasps a live ball in flight and either first returns
to the ground inbounds with any part of his body or is so held that the
dead-ball provisions of Rule 4-1-3-p apply (A.R. 2-4-3-I-IV and A.R.
7-3-6-III).

NCAA Rules 2011-12 Ball Declared Dead
ARTICLE 3. A live ball becomes dead and an official shall sound his whistle
or declare it dead:
l. When a simultaneous catch or recovery of a live ball occurs.
p. When an airborne pass receiver of either team is held so that he is prevented
from immediately returning to the ground (A.R. 7-3-6-III).

It seems some want to argue that Eric Reid's left leg didn't play a role in "p. When an airborne pass receiver of either team is held so that he is prevented from immediately returning to the ground (A.R. 7-3-6-III)." but it is more than obvious it did and in more than just one way. It is very clear that Reid also made contact with Williams before Williams caught the ball "in flight" in an attempt to intercept the ball but failed. Next you will see Reid's left leg completely extended strike Williams in the back which caused Williams torso to become parallel with the field which also would not allow Williams feet to make contact with the field. Next you will see Reid with his left leg and knee still extended but the lower part of his leg and foot bracing to make contact with the ground. At this point you will see Reid intentionally place his right hand on Williams left side to make sure that his leg will remain under Williams back before he strikes the ground. I haven't seen any evidence at all that Williams posterior ever touched the ground but you can see that Williams shoulder was clearly down with both hands on the ball. However you can clearly see Williams back landing on both of Reid's legs causing Williams to slide a short distance before doing a on the ground forwards flip to stand up at which time Williams had possession was clearly down and Reid reached in and took the ball. There is no doubt whatsoever that Williams is held by Eric Reid so that he is prevented from immediately returning to the ground violating the NCAA Rule 4-1-3-p There is clearly no grounds whatsoever to favor Reid with a catch or interception because he does not meet the requirements of a Catch, Interception, or Recovery of a "live ball in flight". The only other option was to have called this play a "Simultaneous catch" Approved Ruling 7-3-6
I. Two opposing players receive a legal forward pass while both are off the
ground, and both players return to the ground inbounds at the same time.
RULING: Simultaneous catch; the ball is awarded to the passing team
(Rule 2-2-8). The truth of the entire matter is that the only thing that Eric Reid actually caught or had possession of was Michael Williams.

  • explanation why it was an int, first Bama guy caught the ball, ok. While he is falling threw the air Reid grabs part of the ball, ok. Then when bama guy hits the ground the ball popped out letting Reid grab the ball which makes it an INT

  • @thebrandonadam2 You're assuming! There is no video evidence what so ever that "the ball popped out"!

  • @thebrandonadam2 You're assuming! There is no video evidence what so ever that Reid ever had any control over the ball until both were already on the ground!

  • Also I'm pretty sure that some of these are photo shopped. In the second angle when his "Elbow is down" it is below the turf line. The pictures after that aren't lined up right either. If you really photo shopped a video to prove your point you should win the most desperate loser of the year award.

  • @fisher1112 You're assuming! These photo's were extracted directly from the original video and the only editing done to the photo's was to resize them to make them larger in order to see them more clearly.

  • Nice work, Lynyrd. Roll Tide!

  • @Billywayneable well, you are right about the bandwagoners..however, as an actual graduate of Alabama in 1991, we don't necessarily like all the "bandwagon jumpers"...we sucked from the time until Stallings retired in 97 I think up until Saban's second year in 08 and I don't remember too many fans jumping on our bandwagon during that period...LSU has quite the "bandwagon" following these days themselves - they are like the Canes used to be in the 80s and early 90s...

  • hey, scoreboard LSWho fans...21-0 GEEEEEAAAAAUUUUUUXXXXXX BAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NATIONAL CHAMPS...AGAIN!!!!!!

  • @TheHonorableChad: Size makes no difference. Tyran Mathieu is about half a foot shorter than Dre Kirkpatrick and took Kirpatrick down in the first game (albeit with an egregious cheap shot from behind).

  • @thebrandonadam2: A small problem with your argument: When any part of the body other than hand or foot touches the ground a player is down. You can't strip the ball from a downed player.

  • Oh well all has been rectified. we won the game that mattered, and that's all that matters!!! ROLL TIDE ROLL!! #14 NC!

  • @TheJessicasStuff Na Lil girl, im talented at being Rite. but Yeah Alabama did win,& Yeah i was wrong, i'm not an LSU fan like i already said, i just hate those elephants. You see Alabama is just a team for Bandwagon fans, most fans just like them cause they're good, but yur supposed to root for ur team no matter if they suck or whatever
