The government seems to always want to take the cheapest way out. If they can deny there's a problem and do nothing, they'll do that. Then, if it snowballs into something too big to deny, they'll yell, "Everybody out!", giving pennies on the dollar of what it really costs to relocate.

Welcome to my backyard. My mother and her family immigrated and settled in Centralia. My Aunt was married to the fellow whose house has been discussed as a spot for a museum and were one of the first families forced to take the buy-out by the government.The'Downtown'tag you were standing on belongs to my mother,Ashland resident, lifetime 'SKOOK'!! P.S. The white flags are D.E.P.'s way of telling idiots w/o a clue do not walk here.'A' for effort and a 'C' for keeping it fairly honest.

My Dad was also born in Centralia but left decades ago. We still have relatives in Ashland and Shamokin so we went back to Centralia many times over the years and were able to see the stages of destruction of the town -- it's sad. My grandparents are buried in the cemetery there.
