On October 15th, I was detained walking around in downtown Minneapolis after a police officer recognized me - and tried to investigate me as a possible "graffiti suspect".

During this first encounter, they brought a copy of a photo of me taken at a recent protest against the FBI raids on anti-war activists outside the 111 Washington Ave. building aka the location of the Minneapolis FBI offices. They then ID me - and mention something about "security trespassing" despite the fact that I only walked by the building on the public sidewalk. I'm warned that they know who I am.

On the very next day, October 16th, when I was also walking in the downtown area, another cop pulls up besides me after stating he "recognized me" but then tells me that I'm free to chalk the public sidewalk area around the 111 building.

Chalking Win?

  • You should have reserved your right not to give ID unless you are being arrested for a crime. Or they have reasonable cause to believe that you committed the crime. Just because you walked down the sidewalk does not give reasonable cause.

  • wow your a fucking idiot. you were stopped because you were tresspassed. meaning dont come back to the fucking building. and the "other cop" "recognized" you because they probably put your picture on the "watch for this fucking liberal idiot that is out to change the world but in reality isnt gonna do a fucking thing" wall.

  • @sjdhfue I agree that he seems like a nice guy, BUT perhaps that's because she is filming. Her remaining silent is an interesting approach particualrly since she was being legally detained as someone who may have committed a crime.

  • I hate these videos of people giving cops a hard time. Sure, there are a few cops that aren't that great, but most cops are just a bunch of nice guys trying to do their jobs. Recording them and remaining silent looks stuck up. People go overboard "keeping cops accountable" and "exercising their rights." Besides, the police officers were, apparently, justified in stopping you since you actually did do something wrong.

  • The police seem to find a way to trick you by saying that they received a complaint or you did something.

  • Im from Minneapolis and I have been harrased by the Police for years, they're also watching me via survialence in my apartment, they have invaded my privacy and are just trying to destroy my life, it sounds crazy but this stuff is going on. This is a sign of New World Order and the first stages of Marshall Law!!!

  • You do know "Detained and Stopped" has the same meaning right?

  • @RANDY64612 a cop comment in true form...
