Sunshine Islands Gift Giving 101 Basic Guide

Characters found in Island of Happiness will have the same general taste in Gifts in Sunshine Islands, but the rules of gift-giving as well as the Rewards are slightly different. This video explores the basics of Gift-Giving, using Taro as an example. It shows the various responses that denote the degree of the character's liking for a specific item. It explains when Gifts will be rejected and when they will lead to a Reward. A Gift-Giving Guide for all Characters will be presented in a separate video.
As many Sun Stones can be obtained through Gift-Giving and Sun Stones are the very foundation of success in Sunshine Islands, social interactions are a vital aspect of the game. Specific details about all Characters, including birthdays, Most Favourite Gifts and special options and events, will be found in my Sunshine Islands Characters Guide.

You can also sometimes get Sun Stones from your Animals, right? But only if they like you?

Oh, and speaking of which, I found that when I rung my Bell, my animals showed those "big red hearts" that occur when petting/brushing/etc... Does this mean that the Bell affects their affection towards you?

Yes, you can obtain Sun Stones from your Animals. All Sun Stones and how they are obtained are listed in my written Strategy Guide: my Sunshine Islands Walkthrough and General Guide. And yes, the Bell should give Friendship points as well. The Sun Stones from the Animals are triggered by heart level.

Does this happen right after you give them the gifts or must you waIk out and in or something

Point totals cannot be seen. Only the Heart Level icons can be seen and those do not necessarily equal the required totals in these cases.

There are two possible Sun Stone gifts. One is linked to the Character. The other is linked to the house/shop. The first will occur when you reach a specific heart level in points with the Character. The second will occur when you reach a specific Heart Level (in points) with every one who lives in the house or shop. With respect to the second, it will be triggered upon entry.

Yes, this is true, but SI is a little different in that NO ONE will accept your gifts at first. You need to speak to them a few days before they will. An exception to this is a Birthday Gift. You can give Vaughn a gift on his birthday but that's it, until you have spoken to characters for a few days.

you neeed to befriend people and give them gifts consistantly for them to give you sun stones, otherwise you cant unlock islands.
