Engadget posted up some exclusive leaked pics of the Sony PSP phone which looks like to be currently a prototype. They also posted up some rumored specs which are

Android 3.0 (Gingerbread)
Custom Sony Market Place
1 GHZ MSM 8655 Processor
512 MB RAM
1 GB ROM
Screen to be 3.7 - 4.1 inches
Slide out controller pad with touch pad
Micro SD instead of Memory Stick
The release time frame is sometime in 2011 which makes me think it may come out between the time of the new iPhone which is what this is going to be directly competing against and the Nintendo 3DS which it's a competitor in gaming its not a direct competitor to the direction that Nintendo is going into with 3D mobile gaming.




The marketplace is also something to think about. Will all the games be android based? Or will there be an emulator for games for the PSP platform and android based games sold in there as well. The competition is heating up.

They should have made this phone the first time. I can tell you I'm buying a PSP 2 but do not know if I will buy the phone version.

I do like real buttons when gaming.

@mp4podcastDOTcom I think they first need to learn what mobile gaming is and learn to make unique game for that platform and market it well before a phone comes into play. But they feel their big competition is iPhone so who knows with them. I think their focus is off on the mobile side.
