Al Oshlack is a legal representative/advocate for the Indigenous Justice Advocacy Network in New South Wales, Australia. Al has had no formal legal education but he has gained incredible experience through representing various indigenous litigants successfully in numerous court cases in NSW and Australian courts. Al has advocated on behalf of indigenous people for over a decade in the New South Wales Land Court, the NSW Supreme Court, The NSW Court of Appeal, the Federal Court and the High Court of Australia. He has only been refused leave to appear once (due to not being a formally admitted lawyer) in the NSW Court of Appeal. Al is currently involved in a number of litigations including representing Uncle Neville Chappy Williams against the infamously malevolent Canadian Gold Mining Company Barrick Gold and their Lake Cowal mine the Sacred Heartland of the Wiradjuri Nation.
