"Rubber Girl," an accordion-laced ballad directed to a blow-up love doll.

The Pukka Orchestra was a Canadian New Wave band in the 1980s. The core of the band consisted of vocalist Graeme Williamson and guitarists Neil Chapman and Tony Duggan-Smith, although the band made frequent use of guest musicians.

'Self Titled' Released 1984

Formed in Toronto in 1979, they released an independent single, "Rubber Girl", in 1981 ("Rubber Girl"/"Do the Slither"). Pukka Orchestra's debut, self-titled, recording featured some 25 musicians and backing vocalists. With tracks like "Rubber Girl", "Listen To The Radio", "Might As Well Be On Mars" (later covered by English folk rock legends Strawbs) and the notorious "Cherry Beach Express", the album received rave reviews and scored impressive airplay.
