@ngangaxpikachu I think you misunderstood xD "readings" (yomi) in Japanese are the *pronunciations* of the kanji, not how they look. To me the on-yomi (sound readings, or sino-Japanese readings/pronunciations) of certain characters in Japanese sound more recogniseable in Mandarin songs my chinese friend sends me links to than Cantonese ones. That's what I meant :) I don't speak Chinese but can pick up more sounds from Mandarin than Cantonese because of Japanese.

@etherella Actually there's a reason. Since Japanese Kanji came from ancient Chinese, the pronunciation would be closer to a more ancient dialect (Cantonese in this case) than Mandarin itself. In the case of reading, Cantonese is a language and dosen't has official character. Chinese, no matter they speak Cantonese/Mandarin or not, only write in Chinese(either Simplified/Traditional Chinese)

@ngangaxpikachu My impression is the opposite. The readings of characters for mandarin identify more closely to me with Japanese readings than Cantonese ones. Maybe it's all a case of ear...

@loveramy1314 I love this version, probably as much as the Japanese version, but for different reasons...it is different, though, there's an instrumental and a verse which are placed differently or something.

I can sing the Japanese one, though >.>. I can't speak cantonese XD.

@BDMJEAM There are many Chinese dialects, and the official language is Mandarin. By the way, the song is sang by a Cantonese which is from Hong Kong :)
