  • Vlad, (part 2), With the Hondo model the 6 saddles help keep it in tune and this is a major deal with the short scale. I tune the guitar to open "E" but up to the pitch of "G" because of the scale. This makes the strings have the correct tension.

  • Vlad, The guitar is the 'cheapo" Chiquita made by Hondo. Billy Gibbons of ZZTop designed these with Austin guitar builder Tom Erlwine. They were pricey, around $500. new, so they licensed out to Hondo to do the budget version.

The Erlwine model has fretboard binding and a combination tailpiece like a LP Jr. The Hondo version has a n unbound fingerboard and a hardtail strat style 6 saddle top mounted bridge. I like this one better as I plat strats so the bridge feels more familiar.

  • awesome bottleneck blues guitar playing! I saw Steve Aug 30, 2011 at Mexicali!

  • I have the hondo version and it sounds great for slide! I love the way this dude plays and i really coudnt touch his skills, I have seen lately the chiquitas going for big money on Ebay, i bought mine for 300 and i think it was a steal. i use it all the time live and allways get guys comming up to the stage to see what i am playing!

  • I love the part at 2:19 when the audience members comes to the front of the stage to see the little guitar that's producing all those wonderful sounds in the hands of a great guitarist.

  • very good I like it very much !

  • My favorite guitar player of all time.
