This is my new argon laser. Now the PSU (JDS Uniphase 2114) works great already. The laser was manufactured in 1996 by National Laser Company, it was rated to 160mW @ 450-515nm, I have no idea how much power it puts out now but I think it may be something about 80mW. Running time on the counter is 45kh but it was remanufactured at 31kh. The green laser is chinese 100mW DPSS (really 100mW, measured). The argon laser has a large fan on top of it, thats where the noise in the video comes from. Laser tube draws almost 11 amps and the voltage drop is about 100V. That gives over 1kW power consumption (+ about 100W on filament) and almost all of it turns into heat.

The diffraction grating that you can see on the vid comes from a DVD writer.

The galvos are GSI G100PD with GSI amplifiers and the signal comes from Popelscan software.

  • reminds me of portal 2 lol

  • cooling fans much?

  • Very nice! I literally have the exact same argon laser head... down to the fan and the placement of the stickers... weird. From that I gather its a Cyonics (Uniphase) SL 488nm. Mine is also rated for 160mW @ 450-515nm and made by NLC. From what I can see you have anywhere from 40mW - 80mW ENJOY!

  • @c4r0hv LOL
