My first tests with the Lumix GH1. Shot without a tripod and still learning how to use it so its a bit rough. All filmed with the kit lens. I've posted it because it's still enough to convince me that this camera is going to be capable of producing some beautiful footage.
Things I've learned:
- I definitely need some NDs. Much of this had to be shot with horrid high shutter speed.
- Tripod will improve things a lot, but the OIS does make handheld usable even at the long end of the lens
- Manual focus is perfectly possible with the viewfinder (most of this was MF). Will need practice to get good at it though.
- The "mud" codec issue doesn't seem to be a big problem in 720p50 mode (which all this was shot in.) There may be some mud there, I've not stepped through every frame, but I've not spotted any playing it through which is the important thing.
This is all ungraded and slapped on a timeline.
