Hello, and welcome to GamingTop5s Review Of SF4
If you're a hardcore Street Fighter fan and you're not excited about Street Fighter IV, you're either playing too much Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, or you're crazy. Regardless, Street Fighter IV is shipping out on February 17th and is one of the most anticipated titles of 2009. Not only does the game bring fan favorites like Ken and Ryu back into the ring, but new fighters are on the way as well to make this an extremely appetizing roster.
Abel is the last of the four newer characters that have been widely publicized recently. A French martial artist with an intimidating build, Abel is working with Chun Li to uncover details regarding Shadaloo, Bison's crime syndicate that Abel's adoptive father mentioned to him before he died. Although Abel is technically just as complicated as his newcomer counterparts, he is -- in a way -- the most approachable when dealing with his Special Move set. His techniques are all close-range affairs and very straight-forward. Furthermore, his main Special Move combo is a piece of cake to pull off and can be easily adjusted on the fly.
But one of Abel's best Special Moves is his Marseilles Roll, which is a harmless forward roll whose range can be altered based on the strength of the kick button used. Not only can this roll pass through projectiles, but it can also move Abel behind an opponent, which is helpful when backed into a corner. The Marseilles Roll is also a great setup for Abel's Tornado Throw, which is a Special Move that deals quite a bit of damage. This amnesiac also has a fair chance against aerial threats, thanks to his Wheel Kick and Falling Sky Special Moves. The Wheel Kick sends Abel's leg in a high arc while keeping his body close to the ground. This move is not only effective against jumping opponents but can also strike a standing character. Alternatively, Abel can use the Falling Sky move to snag an opponent clean out of the air and throw him or her to the ground.
While Street Fighter IV features models and backgrounds rendered in 3D, the gameplay remains on a traditional 2D plane. Producer Yoshinori Ono has stated that he wanted to keep the game closer to Street Fighter II. A new system called "Focus Attacks" has been introduced, as well as Ultra moves. The traditional six-button control scheme returns, with new features and special moves integrated into the input system, mixing classic gameplay with additional innovations.
The game has a very similar feel to Super Street Fighter II Turbo, but also has several features from Street Fighter III 3rd Strike. Pressing both light attack buttons is still for throwing, and both heavy attack buttons are for the personal action or taunts. Both medium attack buttons are for the focus strike. Dashes and quick standing are also in the game. C.Viper is the only character who can perform a high jump.
It was intended that bonus rounds such as the car-smashing stage from earlier Street Fighter games would return. Ono later stated that the bonus stages would not be in the arcade game, citing the reason to be that the time players spend on bonus stages takes money from arcade operators.
The characters and environments in the game are rendered as 3D models with polygons, similar to the Street Fighter EX sub-series Capcom produced with Arika, but use a stylized effect to give them a hand-drawn look, with visual effects accented with calligraphic strokes, ink smudges and ink sprays during the fights. The art director and character designer is Daigo Ikeno, who previously worked on Street Fighter III 3rd Strike.

nice and informative, only the background music, although extremely well chosen and fitting, seems to overwhelm the spoken dialog, I'd recommend turning up the voice volume for better sound results.
Once again, excellent review and the subs on the side were a nice touch. Keep it up!
