  • I have seen a therapist! You can "like" this if you saw one as well or are currently seeing one, just to show that it's not something to be ashamed of.

  • I'm seeing a therapist with my girlfriend! Some people feel like it's a sign of us failing, but we feel like it's a sign that we truly care about each other. Instead of saying "Oh we're fighting and having this problem...I'm dumping you!", we're working through it and becoming incredibly strong. Things have been amazing between us since we've been going. If you need help, or your relationship needs help, there is nothing wrong with seeking it.

  • Lori, you are the best

  • thank you. i really needed this encouragement.

  • Have been in theraphy for 2 years now for many problems from my past. Was sexualy abused as a child, raped as a young adult. Those are just 2 of the hot spots in my mind.Am also diagnosed GID.Witch doesen`t make my life any easer.Theraphy works! the fact that i could tell you is proof it took 1 year of theraphy to admit those events happend & how much supressing them has harmed me mentaly & phsyicaly.Attempted sucide once(failed) because of it.Still have flashbacks but its getting better.Huggs Bye

  • This is such an important message. I myself have just recently started therapy, and am on anti anxiety medication. It's nothing I'm ashamed of, my close friends all know about it and support me. In just one month I feel like therapy and medication have done so much, and improved my life so much. I've been going through so much in my life, and reaching out for help was like a breath of fresh air. Taking care of yourself is so important.

  • Awesome. GROUP Therapy is another option. :)

  • I used a therapist during my transition,. Partially because it is required by the Standards of Care foir T folk and also because it was nice to have a unbiased person to bounce things off of. I chose when to begin therapy and also when to end it. It was a wonderful experience.

  • i came out five years ago, my children and i saw a therapist even my childrens father had to see a fam therapy THERE!!! I said it i not ashame of that.

  • Thanks for this, Lori. I was so afraid to go to a therapist, but could not shake the sadness I felt plus my Mom was going through breast cancer and I could not do anything for her. I felt helpless and it just made my depression worse. I still struggle, but am making steps forward and am now overall very happy. I have AMAZING friends and people that love me just the way I am even if I don't even know who I am just yet. My confidence continually grows :)

  • It has been hard for me to find a therapist in Texas that isn't biased about the LGBTQ community.
