  • I Hate String Setters. I have tried to spare this for over 20 years, but NOOO!! I'm guessing the string is short and puss it away after about 18" of travel. :( one time I even screamed out Obsenities, cos i did exacly that, but the string pulled it back and just "wiggled" the other pin, needless to say, i packed up and moved out....

    Stings - no

    FreeFall - Yes

  • It's neat, how that type of five pin bowling, didn't have strings on the pins.

  • we need more bowlers bowling small ball. 5 pin, candlepin, duckpin etc. Big Ball/Ten Pin bowlers shoot 300 games like candy, how about something involving some SKILL!

  • Hooray for free-fall pinsetters!!! A better way to bowl fairly!

  • not necessarily. though there is some variation in what is allowed, i think the range is about 5-6 inches.

  • its always possible. ;)

  • where i bowl we have strings and it is extremly hard to even come close to something like that, almsot impossible. there has been splits spared for sure but nothing like that!

  • The Alley in Indianapolis isn't as nice as one that has a Sherman pinsetter instead of the strings. The strings greatly reduce the pin action.

  • Sounds like the old Quebec company: Mendes machines, lol

  • I've noticed on the Robin's Duckpin website that there is a duckpin bowling alley in Indianapolis called "Atomic Bowl." And the duckpins runs on strings. But it also says that with the strings, it is not regulated rules by the National Duckpin Bowling Congress. Which that is good for us.

  • Yes, I absolutely agree. I heard from some people. Including Andrew Flynn from Youth Bowlers of Canada saying that a majority of Canadians prefer to use free-falls, rather than strings. Because of traditions, and to play 5-pin bowling fairly.

  • If car companies like Dodge can bring back the Challenger, bowling companies can bring back free-fall setters!

    Makes sense to me. :)
