@NejcCuk I was planning on using Voskhod M3 1987 motorcycle engine + transmission:
Displacement: 175.00 ccm (10.68 cubic inches)
Engine type: Single cylinder, two-stroke
Power: 14.00 HP (10.2 kW)) @ 5500 RPM
Torque: 17.00 Nm (1.7 kgf-m or 12.5 ft.lbs) @ 5250 RPM
I will gear it down with normal motorcycle gears and chains, so that the auger runs at ~600 rpm
Since this motorcycle has 4 gears, I could use 1st gear for heavy snow and 2nd gear for fluffy snow.

it would be amazing if it had a high/low range, seems too high geared for the heavy stuff but any lower and it would be too slow for the light stuff

wow very nice job dude, it looks like its gets the job done. but are the brackets beefy enough and strong enough to last a long time with enough brackets going to a sturdy part of the frames with strong bolts/mounts

better off to us a shovel
-
needs a wider auger and an impeller feeder? perhaps fit it with a modded single stage auger to shove the snow in?

As I understand it, then you have designed snow shovels wrong. Shovels must press down the snow-in toward the center. Your design prevents snow moves in front of the machine. Otherwise it looks good arrangement.
@drfleau
if a typical impeller spins at 600rpm, then how fast should the auger spin?

@kadakas It depands on what transmission you have available (what you can buy or produce) between impeller & auger.

I design and build snowblowers for municipalities and contractors. My advice is: slow down the impeller. 1500rpm is WAY too fast. Snow doesn't have time to enter between the blades. A typical impeller spins at no higher than 600rpm. Also, if you can, increase the diameter of your impeller; 16 inches is too small for that width. Thirdly, your housing is too large for your screw diameter. Bring down the hight to 5 or 6 inches above the screw.
Very nice design overall.

@drfleau I appretiate you advice because you come from this industry. The actual snowblower project has completly stopped, not only due to recession, but because there was no interest of the company to produce it. This was only my diploma assignment and I look at it only in that way. It would be nice if I worked for the employer who produces this types of machines. But for now I cope with other mechanical design proboblems in my own company.
