My favorite interpretation of this piece is Horowitz's. but I think Yundi's version is pretty vivacious

  • For those who prefer this mazurka performed by Horowitz, know that, in the musical middle, the playing of Yundi Li is often compared with that of Horowitz precisely. The best version remains, in my opinion, that of Rubinstein who is Polish... Thanks for the video.

  • the only person who could only dream about playing it the way chopin intended it to be is chopin himself, so people can't judge on how people play these songs

  • wish I could play like Yundi.... but, in order to play it like Chopin wrote it one needs to pay attention to every aspect. Marcelina Czartoriska, who was considered by those who knew Chopin to most faithfully player in his style, said that Chopin said that first theme of this mazurka (33/2) was to be played at the beginning as if in a tavern, the second time much more refined as in a salon. She was Chopin's pupil, accompanied him many times, was there when he died etc. So who will know best?

  • @dziady1 I don't think so.

  • Lang Lang would surely fainted after watching this.

  • Yes, Yundi's performance is not bad. It preserves vivacious character of this dance.

  • Vladimir Horowitz wykonywał tego mazurka najpiękniej.

  • @fakedog100 no, because this is played like a WALTZ, while this is a MAZURKA.

Rubinstein plays with the right accentos, but... listen to Biret. She understood perfectly how to play this.

  • yeah he is great ! but the Ronan'O Hora's performance is the best ever

  • I was going back and forth between Horowitz rendition and Yundi's. I really don't think the comment that Y's beat is all off is a fair comment. He is definitely more spirited and faster in his version. Afterall, he is in his twenties and living in this high speed world; Horowitz belonged to another age, another time! Just becuase Y does not play like somebody else does not mean he is bad!!
