A "Haunted mansion" project based around a survival-horror roleplaying game I made for Halloween in 2010. The mansion itself is an attempt at faithfully recreating as many details about the Mansion as I could, given the stuff Sims 3 let me use.

The mansion holds more than 15 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 2 laundry rooms, has a library, a musical school, a nursery, an old chapel (no organ, though), and alot more rooms than I can remember from the tip of my tongue.

The point of making this mansion for Sims 3 is, and only is, for the fun of visualizing what I kept for years on paper and in my mind alone. Also, it's for the fun of making a haunted house, a sortof creepy tradition I kept since the very first Sims game.

I might share the mansion with you people, but only on the official Sims 3 website, or on thesimsresources, depends on the filesize or the legal bullcrap.

Most of the songs and soundtracks used in this video are mentioned in the credits. They're as follow:
Rising Sun - Silent Hill (Akira Yamaoka)
L'Éternel seul est ma lumière - public domain (unknown french catholic choir)
Les Adieux - Civilization V (??)
Jeepers, Creepers - Louis Armstrong and co.
-and another oldie whose title I forgot. Sorry.

This video is for non-profit, recreational purposes only, so is the subject showcased here.

TOOLS USED:
Sims 3 internal video recording tool
Camera mods like cmomoney's nodrift_lowlevel, and Aikea Guinea's freecam
Adobe Premiere CS3
my brains

the mansion:
Sits on the biggest residential zone available (hard to set on map. impossible to find a correct spot in the Late Night town so far. Preferably set on a hill, and in a forest (to hide the lame semi-river in the corner)

-the characters are not available for download.
-the mansion might become available for download once I finish adjusting it and filling the spaces with urns and tombstones.

--edit--
Sorry for the incredible amount of darkness, looks like Youtube doesn't like dark videos...

  • Very well done - love the forboding atmosphere. The hallways remind me a great deal of the Stanley Hotel (the hotel featured in The Shining). I too often build things in Sims that I create for stories / roleplaying games - it's often a challenge to find the right objects to get that 'just right' feel across :D

  • @Estryth The Shining was a great horror flick, mainly because of the awesome play of Jack Nicholson, who got his role so perfectly (I suspect he IS crazy). The hallways in Stanley Hotel are serpentine and splitting off all around, if I recall the scene/s of the Big Wheel bike, a bit like those from this mansion.

Architects would criticize me all around if they saw the original maps of this place, it's amateurish to the max.

  • @Estryth (...) that Mansion is -in its own story- filled with "expansions", new wings here and there and new floors too, all built over and around an old chapel. Using mostly vanilla stuff, I got it to the tiny details I wanted. There's still room for improvement, though. I had to wait for the Sims 3 to be able to make the mansion to a proper level of details. I tried making it in Every Sims game (and failed).

My next challenge-> Minecraft Mansion. Cause that's a project of mine too.

  • Creepy!!!!!......

  • @EMLYSIMS Thank you! X3

  • Nice mansion! Kinda gives a resident evil creepy feel in my opinion.

  • @2Simpleminded The mansion itself borrowed a bit of inspiration from many different games and movies. the Resident Evil mansion is one of those. Eternal Darkness was my main inspiration though.

Thanks alot for watching, and for your appreciation!

  • @KSGXFOREVER thanks alot! -Controlling the camera in the Sims 3, even in free mode, it's hard as hell.

  • -And I'm a terrible cameraman, so thanks for not pointing that out constantly. -_-;
