FREE TRADE SLAUGHTERING ANIMALS. PRODUCTS THAT USE FACTORY FARMED ANIMALS ARE SUBSIDIZED. ANIMALS ARE ENDANGERED AND GOING EXTINCT. SOLOR POWER, GREEN ENERGY, LESS BULL SHIT PRODUCTS AND WASTE OF RESOURSES. WE CAN DO BETTER BY GOING GREEN AND WAY LESS FOSSIL FUELS. WE DON'T NEED A FAST FOOD NATION, WE NEED A CLEAN AND HEALTHY NATION. GLAD I DON'T EAT ANIMALS. GROW YOUR OWN VEGGIES. WATCH ON YOUTUBE "EARTHLINGS". THERE'S A FUEL SHORTAGE. USE NEW MACHINES AND NOT RELY ON FOSSIL FUELS. GO VEGAN.

@PtAltmVansanTarr Those new farming methods are heavily dependent on cheap oil to run all the machines. As the oil gets more expensive, so does the food. If there are fuel shortages, there will be food shortages, there is simply no way around that.

@linghun thank you :) I find the hints of genocide implicit in some of greens ideology to be quite scary due govt positions. Nature journal ran a study finding that cooling in the upper atmosphere has created a giant hole in the ozone again. Also use of CFLCs that still hasn't been totally halted. I'm not a denialist, just someone who willing to admit when myself or those around me really DON'T know the details of something. Is anyone is looking to create a blog that is skeptical but indy?

@PtAltmVansanTarr But what does innovation mean? The means become improved? But then the question arises: To what end? and to what effect? We can theoretically completely transform the entire globe to maintain our "standard" of living.

He did not answer the "What year will oil peak" in this video.

time for hypertechnologies

@PtAltmVansanTarr A sane comment in an ocean of neo-malthusian religious fanaticism. Thank you.

But we don't live in a finite planet, we live in an infinite universe.

He ignores the part about getting a lot out of a little, or new technologies. People were convinced in the 70s there was about to be an overpopulation crisis but new farming methods solved this. The difference between optimists and pessimist is a belief in the ability of the human species to innovate.

the only way to solve our problem is to enact birth restrictions. we must lower our population now or things will only get worse.
Most people when you talk about peak oil say we are not running out of oil. That is true we will not run out of oil in the near future. Now the bad news the world can not produce enough oil to meet demand.Sadly this is not going to change no matter where you drill for oil.Truth is just not enough to meet demand. We could have addressed our oil needs 30 years ago.Maybe even made plans to convert from a oil only economy.Guess what we did nothing now its too late...

Great video. Five stars. Captures the problem of usurious - Aristotle would have said 'incestuous' - industrial civilization in a nut-shell. Bravo, Heinberg!
