Beautiful hens...I really enjoyed this one! I use to have wild chickens that lived around my house on Oahu and then I started feeding them my leftovers and they became my friends. And one hen was a beautiful black hen. I watched her raise several sets of chicks. We really connected. I know that sounds crazy but I really loved her. She was the best pet I could have ever asked for. And she loved eating the tomatoes I grew. And the tomatoes loved her poop. Yes I will always remember her!

lol no. if you have space on the roof of you apartment you can put chickens up there, hell you can raise pigs as long as its done in a legal manor. chickens are extremely resilient, i've had chickens for almost all my lif.

I've watched Animal Planet Channel enough to know you can't have livestock "chickens" in the city they get yeah. Good idea but realistically it wouldn't work where they want it to.

I think that's the biggest prob. with "communal farming". SOMEONE has to get the operation up and running, before anyone else wants to "participate". That's fine, as long as you know the community is going to jump in.

At 1.20 I was hoping that hen would peck that dude in the face.

I try to raised chickens and garden in two central Florida towns/cities of 10,000 people and had code enforcemenet stop us and then animal control take the birds away only to grow and live at the dog pound producing eggs and meat for county empolyees.

you should have the people involved save their veggie scrapes to feed to the chickens. You can also ues the soil from the coop as fertilizer.

I know somebody here in Columbus who has chickens and sells eggs. He's actually just past the city limits, so there isn't any law against it. But they're really yummy--anyone who's only had grocery store eggs has no idea what they're missing. And only $2 a dozen, which is REALLY good for more sustainable and humane egg production. (Like, I've seen his chickens and they live like normal birds.)
