Tesco is launching a multimillion pound TV campaign, featuring stars such as , to get people to use fewer plastic bags when they shop. The campaign, which also features Alan Whicker, Paul Daniels and jockey Frankie Dettori, promotes Tesco's new policy of offering "green" Clubcard points for consumers who refrain from asking for new plastic bags.

thanks tesco. my wife helped our little australian town to be plastic bag free several years ago. the only business that wouldn't and doesn't co-operate is the petrol outlet of coles supermarkets. as one of the world's brand leaders in retail, tesco's lead will eventually bring companies like coles into line.
