My home town<3 :/

Sad what has happend to our city, I graduated from AHS in 97'. I remember going to the mall as a kid, and it was always packed. I remember the fountains that used to be under the escalators. The city could be soooo much more it sits on the NYST, Mohawk River and on one of the most used rail lines in the country. And yet everything keeps going right past Amsterdam. They need some freash new minds in that city.

I also grew up in Amsterdam during the 50's and 60s, graduated from WIlbur H Lynch high school and "escaped" from there in my 20's when the downhill slide was already under way. It is truly sad how miserable it has become. I now refer to it as Amsterdamned.

I grew up here from the late 50's until I left in '77. Went to Lynch High. It's a shame the younger folks don't have memories like I do. Back when we had an actual downtown, and jobs. The worst thing they ever did was build the mall and tear down the old downtown area. My last trip was for my reunion, and half the town is torn down. Entire neighborhoods are gone to build roads. Despite loss of jobs, without PRIDE, property just decays like the hope. Look in the mirror for blame.

i have lived here my whole live it is bad but the city made the new gamestop, target, moe's, and aspen tooth place. what the city is doing taking are tax money buying the police new cars and all these new buildings it is crazy amsterdam is trying to make the old mall a mall again now it is a office building

I couldn't wait to leave this place. 10 days outta high school, I moved to Hawaii, and never looked back.......now I"m 37, and never regret leaving for a moment.

I miss my home town of Amsterdam, NY. The towns people are talented, wonderful and so giving. Now is when everyone should come together with their great talents and lift the town up and inspire each other. God has a plan.

I challenge you to now make another movie about all the good things of Amsterdam. You could start with Riverlink Park, Amsterdam Mohawks, all the fabulous family owned restaurants, the bike trail along the river, Amsterdam Rams football games, the revitalized Clocktower, and the list could go on and on. Most importantly you could focus on the wonderful people of Amsterdam who daily try to make improvements to this terrific community. Let's all stop the negativity.
dude...you have no idea how shitty this made me feel.

Its sad how things get like that. I drive down the expressway here in Chicago and I look at some of the rundown closed up building and I think to myself....That build was built for a reason...It was built to do great things or else it wouldn't have been built and now look at it. Its sad.
