Johan Garpenlov's shot in game 6 overtime that hit the post. Moments later, the Leafs would tie the series 3-3 and then win Game 7 in Toronto to eliminate the surprising San Jose Sharks (who had just shocked the hockey world and sent a strong message with an upset of the Detroit Red Wings one series earlier). The Sharks finished the regular season with a 33-35-16, still a great improvement from the two seasons before (17-58-5 in 1991-92 and then 11-71-2 in 1992-1993, their first two years of existence)
This was San Jose's first playoff appearance in only their 3rd year of existence in the NHL,& I thought they made a good case for themselves after upsetting Detroit in the first round & came within a mere eyelash of upsetting the Leafs as well, like we seen here.
