Companies send jobs overseas because they will work for much less than you or I can legally be paid. Corporations exist to produce as much profit as possible. American workers will NEVER be able to compete with the sheer desperation of a worker in the third world.
Also, thugs? Really? I've known a lot of teachers and not one was particularly thuggish. Even the ones in the union.

look no further than bail out banks who took our billions and converted them to bonuses..and how did they get htis hand out? because earlier they paid lots of money to push these pro billionaire politicians into office...and you blame the teacher's unions as if they have the ability to bring down the country's financial systems and then ask for and successfully receive billions in bail out?
