You know they do have unisex bathrooms however those are usually like one toilet instead of a row of them. Id like to see some price comparisons for regular womens and mens toilets vs. a lot of unisex toilets. The price may even actually be cheaper since they dont have to buy all that steel to make the dividers. That way theres no awkwardness at all. But fwiw once I had to help a disabled woman to the toilet and yeah big time awkward. But despite the awkwardness i did help her after all.

It's an awkward situation all around. But if there's no family restroom or that's being used what else can the father really do?

I've been in a men's room when a little girl is brought in and while it initially makes me feel awkward I say to myself it's a little kid who needs help and that's about it. It's not like a toddler is getting a thrill out of being in the other restroom. The adults are far more bothered by it.

I hate when stupid places have a mens and a womens restroom but they are both just ONE toilet and a sink...WHY? It just clogs people up...just take the signs down and say public restroom...now women wont think they have to wait just because the "womens" restroom is occupied.

I have had this thought more than once... they should have a 'kids' bathroom. That way any parent can take their kid in of either sex to use the potty.

Also that would solve the problem of not having a changing table in the mens room (and sometimes there is not one in the ladies room either) because the changing tables could be in the kids bathroom.

Just a thought and one I have had way too often as my son grew up. =)

This is the reason why i always go for the urinal furthest from the door and stalls and if the door and stalls are on oppisite sides i go for the stalls.

I would never take my daughter into the men's room. Instead, I would go into the women's room with her. The stalls are closed anyway. How is it worse to have an adult in the wrong room than a little girl in the nasty men's room?

From what I see.. some mens room has open stalls, while womens are more closed off. So taking boys into the womens room isn't that bad, and taking girls into the mens room might be a bit risky.

Things like boys playing with cars versus dolls, or girls with tea sets or toy guns. I've tried not to raise my son as a stereotype but he LOVES LOVES LOVES construction! He is also very gentle with nature/pets, and enjoys little kids. Once I got him a small vacuum he wanted and a mop- but one of his uncles raised an eye brow at this. Does this make sense?

We have a local McDonald's that has a family bathroom, specific for either parent to go in with their child, or the child can go by themselves. Its nice having it right there at the play area too.

Of course moms take boys to the women's room.

Mens' rooms are more disgusting, and there is the risk of what they view, but yes, it is fine.

Now, my husband does make our daughter cover her eyes... and keep them closed until in the stall... then again until washing hands.

I think that what age you let them go by themselves depends a lot on safety and maturity.
