It was a real townhall, and important health reform issues were discussed by some very well informed industry people.

However, having invited the REAL elected politicians and being ignored, we had our town hall meeting without them and brought along some cardboard cutouts so their constituents could express thier feelings and opinions.

What a ham sandwich, Dick Durbin/Melissa Bean/Mark Kirk

  • Time to take back Illinois. Great video Michael!

I have never heard Durbin, Kirk or Bean sound more intelligent!!

  • I would vote for anyone of those cardboard cutouts before I'd vote for those actual politicians. I'm completely serious.

  • Talk about the reality of the situation. Funny, but true. Fantastic.

  • @weneedmccain Unfortunately that is the way it is. Wealthier folks tend to be more socially liberal on the North Shore, so those are the kind of candidates they vote for.

  • @magdamagda999 Tom Cross is one of the worst examples of a Republican out there. He's cozy with the Democrats, has voted for over 300 tax increases, and takes money from the IEA. This man has no ideology nor allegiances, he's all about power and money. He's a Madigan wanna-be and needs to be removed as much as Madigan does.

  • @JohnRhysMusician Not exactly things to be proud of - eh!

  • @magdamagda999 I agree in part, but being from the North Shore, which is fairly moderate, with Republican pockets. Almost all of the Republicans are pro-abortion, pro-gay, etc. That is country-club Republican. We produced Andy McKenna, Jack Ryan, Mark Kirk.

  • @JohnRhysMusician No the republican party is not the "country club party." The head of the GOP in Illinois is Tom Cross. He came from a middle class family. His father was a Methodist minister. I'd hardly consider that to be of the "country club" class. You have your facts wrong. The Democratic party of Illinois is the elite, wealthy, well-connected, country club set.

  • Yep, that's why I fight the GOP Country Clubbers so much. They do not represent most of the folks, they represent themselves.

  • I strongly supported a candidate like Jack Ryan and look what happened. We tend not to get national GOP support unless we nominate one of the country clubers.

  • I wish you stated your opposition in your voting. Supporting and pushing for candidates like Mark Kirk and Topinka do nothing to curb the country club from repenting of their ways and actually encourages more of the same.

  • I am part of the country clubness being from the North Shore, but I have always stated my opposition to the corporate welfare, pro-abortion mentality that is pervasive in the ILGOP. Most of it unfortunately comes from my area.
