When travelling from the UK to Australia or New Zealand it is best to have your vaccination at least eight weeks before travelling.

This is not always possible but in any event you should make sure that your existing vaccinations for the UK are up to date, such as Polio and Tetanus. If they're not, you should arrange booster jabs.
You are not required to produce a vaccine certificate when visiting Australia or New Zealand but it does no harm to carry one with you.

You are required to produce a Yellow Fever certificate is if you arrive in Australia within 6 days of having stayed overnight or longer in an area which has a risk of yellow fever transmission
Over the last 3-5 years in Australia there have been large outbreaks of Pertussis or Whooping Cough as it's known. Travellers may be concerned either because of risk of contracting Pertussis themselves or because, if infected, they may put very young children who are too young to be vaccinated at risk. For example grandparents visiting new grandchildren.

Malaria is not normally present in Australia or New Zealand unless the illness was contracted elsewhere however
Japanese Encephalitis a risk which is spread by mosquitoes.
It is a serious infection of the brain and vaccination is advised for those in risk areas where mosquito bites are unavoidable. You should consider this vaccination if you are staying for more than 4 weeks or visiting rural areas.
