The Sapphire Pincess cruise ship arrives at Vancouver port with an extra passenger. Let's take a look.
Holiday makers on board this cruise liner arrived in Vancouver with an extra passenger.

The Sapphire Princess cruise ship had impaled a whale on the ship's bow.

Spectators looked on as divers attached ropes to the 20 metre long mammal allowing a small boat to tug the whale off of the vessel.

A spokesman from the cruise company said the whale was discovered as the liner prepared to enter the harbour.

Craig Delahunt works at the port, he says the mammal probably died on impact with the ship.

[Craig Delahunt, Tymac Launch Service]:
"That bow is like a spear. Once they're hit it usually breaks their back. Kills them almost instantly."

Princess Cruise Lines didn't comment on how long the whale had been attached to the vessel.

But some here say it was probably struck further north as the boat travelled from Alaska to Vancouver.

  • Best cat videos online haha.. who would click on that?

  • NTD is biased chinese media disguised with a foreign white lady anchorwoman.

  • @info145 Well said

  • OK, so people will not ever stop eating animals, but there are guidelines that should be followed:

    1) Don't kill animals whose subsistence is in question.

    2) Kill quickly and humanely.

    3) Replenish.

    4) Respect an animal's sanctuary!

The poachers ignore all of these basic common sense points of logic and human decency

  • @info145 You have a point. Besides I doubt I will be hitting a whale at a car. That would suck

  • @gravylegs1

NONE of the Whales should be hunted because they aren't being replenished by man. Especially the very endangered humpbacks! Deer and elk are harmful to man on land, Whales are not. Deer overpopulate and overgraze. Whales are in the oceans. Blackbears and coyote are on land (where we are). The Sea Shepherds also have the RIGHT to protest in any way they wish. Anyhow, things like deer and bears and coyotes are damaging land environment. Whales are perfectly inoffensive

  • pauvre baleine ostie

  • @crazyknight2008 Like it or not, ads are needed to keep these services free to you. Imagine YouTube not having ads, but instead requiring you to pay $10 a month to use their website.. That wouldn't fly well with most people.. Servers aren't free, people to run them aren't free, etc etc, it's just something you have to deal with. I have a website and honestly without tactfully placed ads i couldn't afford the upkeep to keep the site going, not to mention any kind of future expansion or upgrades.

  • I hit a deer with my car once...Does that count?

  • This is the new way Japan will start whaling. They'll take out a cruise ship an impale a whale on the bow and say it was an accident.
