  • it wasnt only the 300... leonidas had a genios friend who happened to get the athenian navy to bloock the passage north of the hot gates... which is ironically a feild now...

  • @TheGod0071

    7 people are persians...

  • @Doukak0s Spartans are still awesome

  • Leonidas, his men, and the Greeks that stayed at the hot gates bought valuable time for the rest of free Greece to assemble to arms. Without this sacrifice, Greece would have surely fallen and sealed the fate of what is now Europe.

  • @Doukak0s

    Leonidas' plan was simple:In the narrow pass,the numbers of Persians would mean nothing before Spartans!The plan suceeded and the Greeks continued the battle for 3 whole days,until the betrayal of Efialtis,who brought the persians back from the Greeks.

    ~~~
    This was 1 of the Great Three Battles which saved Europe from the Persians and secured to HUMANITY-MANKIND the cultural treasure of Athenians~>DEMOCRACY<~,which lead to the Europian Civilization.
  • You idiots! what do you know about our battles??
    Wanna know true events? OK i'll tell you!
    August,480 B.C. Battle of "Hot Gates"
    Then,took place the most epic battle of WORLDWIDE HISTORY.
    Persian army:500.000
    Greek Army:7.000
    This number the last day of the battle became 1.000 cause King Leonidas dismissed the allies and remain there with 300 Spartans and 700 Thespies(Θεσπιείς in Greek) under the command of Demofilos(Δημόφιλος του Διαδρόμου) who DENIED to leave!
  • @Zaginaify
    Yeah, its still pretty much in the Persian's favor. But that phalanx is formidable in that Greek landscape. A wall of men in armor of over 70lbs and wielding long spears and large shields isnt going to fall easily.
    I liked what the Athenians did at Marathon, stared the Persians down, charged at them, and then when the Persians charged they reformed the phalanx and the persians ran right into their spears.
  • @28Alanslater It was actually more like 7000 assorted Greeks and Spartans, and (scholars estimate) from 100,000 to 300,000 Persians.
