This is a study I performed to test the effects of alcohol intoxication on juggling ability. I drank 12 oz bottles of Miller Lite and after each beer I used a breathalyzer to measure my BAC and made 10 attempts to juggle five balls for as long as possible. The results are given in the video, but as noted at the very end, the only statistically significant result was that I can juggle better at 0.06 BAC than at 0.13 BAC. Stay tuned for a follow-up study which will hopefully be more definitive.

  • Very interesting results that after a few beers you were actually better. Maybe the slightly relaxed nerves and reflexes makes it better for juggling, just as long as you dont pass into that drunk thresshold!

  • My guess is that I got better due to practice, despite the drinking. I really should have done a whole series trials without drinking to see if I get better with practice, then compare that with the drinking set.

  • why did you choose this strange [44]444 instead of a 5 ball cascade or something? I was thinking if it were going to be a good study it should at least be a symmetrical pattern so that the pattern's stability isn't exaggerated by juggling the trickier bits in a dominant hand as you become more inebriated. maybe juggle [44][44]44?

  • I chose this pattern because I can juggle it for more than a few catches, yet it is challenging enough that I couldn't go on for 15 minutes with it. I didn't want something too easy that would take forever or something so difficult that I could barely juggle sober. I'm not really good enough at 5 ball cascade, but I'm too good at 4 ball fountain. A symmetrical pattern might have been preferable, but I don't think I'm good enough at [44][44]44. It's tricky to find a pattern that's just right.

  • drink a six pack atleast!!

  • it's not because of beer, you just suck !

  • maybe you were just tired after the 3rd beer ;-)

  • placebo effect also

  • Juggling drunk or in any way intoxicated is a skill just like juggling sober, and it can be trained just the same - its just practise. I can get a quite solid 5b cascade for quite some time up to about 6 or 7(bavarian!) beers, its just practice - just remember - you DONT have to be able to stand up staight to be able to juggle!!

  • miller lite? I thought you were going to use beer?

  • Not to promote drug use... But I think you should try juggling high. I bet you'll have much more definite results and be quite a bit worse lol.
