I don't really think he's trying to capitalize on his father's success look at it this way John was a Titan in music history if Sean wanted he could live off that for the rest of his life even though it's near impossible I think he just wants to step out from his father's shadow and be seen as Sean not just the son of a Beatle but his own person

I agree. The reason WHY people are saying this is because it's the common excuse. They don't even listen to his music or bother to hear his albums. They are just trying to give him a hard time because they are bitter, sad people themselves. He's a wonderful artist and his music is beautiful.

Wow i am impressed. Everyone on sean's interviews and other videos related to sean were saying how much sean tries to be like his dad and just isnt as good. But im actually really delighted with his music, it does have a bit of his father's touch, a little odd, eerie almost, but catchy and very pleasant. He is his own artist.

Funny; I'm a 44 year old guy, grew up with the Beatles, John Lennon was always a hero - I cried at 12 when he died.. I'm hardcore Beatles. But to be honest, since my teens I've been into wackier and wackier stuff, indie. I actually prefer Sean -- I'm sort of blown away by how much I dig him actually; there's bits of Blonde Redhead in this to me.
