In this knitting video, Melissa Matthay demonstrates how to make beautiful seams when finishing a sweater.

Melissa Matthay designed knitwear for thirty years (1980-2010). She started The Yarn Co. on Broadway in New York and transformed the Knitting Tree in Madison, Wisconsin. She had her television debut on Knitty Gritty in 2005 and a seven-page spread in Family Circle in 2006. She co-authored Little Box of Scarves I and II, Little Box of Sweaters, Basically Brilliant Knits, Perfectly Brilliant Knits, and authored Knits Three Ways, Children's Knits, and Kritter Knits. She has given workshops across America and created custom knits for the industry and individuals.

  • I thought it was perfect. When ppl go slower, my brain loses its place. I lurve watching you pull it together. I think I'll be needing this stitch for my sleeve/body join. Yikes.

  • 1st I'd like to say nice seam But It took viewing a few times to see what she was doing. She doesn't state that the pieces she is seaming are not going in the same direction. The left piece stitches are vertical. The right piece stitches are horizontal. Also too fast and not close enough to see the Vee and Bar she is talking about. Beautiful seam though.

  • I can't see what you're doing, you need to go slower to show how it's done! It's a shame I can't use this, because it's the best seam ever!
