This is totally wonderful. But I'm wondering... The name is about Louisiana, but the style, chords, singing, everything about the song sounds Irish/Celtic/Newfy. What is the history of the song, do you know?

The song was anonymously written probably during the War of 1812 and was brought to the rest of the world by soldiers of French and/or British background. Check out Paul Brady's version on here.... it's a little different.

A lovely song, though I wonder if a higher key might produce sharper vocals. I know that the song demands quite a range, so thanks for posting.

Thanks for the comments. My cam does not produce sharper vocals very well so I am left to sing in lower, slightly softer keys. And, of course, as a result I have to hold back.

Good job on this song. I like Christy Moore's version as well, but you can never go wrong with Paul Brady.
